How Often Do You Really Need to Chat with Your Dentist?

Do you really talk to your dentist when you go in and see them? If not, then you should start. They are not only there to help you with your oral health. They are also there to know what is going on in your life. They want to know.

When you share what is going on with your life, they have a better idea of what to expect in your mouth. If their assumption is that life is peachy-keen, then they won't be on the lookout for other problems you may be in line for.

What to Tell Your Dentist About

When you chat with your dentist, you should tell them what is going on in your life, in a general sense. If life has been really stressful, this is an important piece of knowledge for your dentist. They will know to be on the lookout for signs that you may have more acid in your mouth, as that is a side-effect of more stress since your saliva won't be as able to neutralize those acids.

They will also know to look for signs of bruxism. This is when you clench down on your teeth from stress, or grind your teeth, often in your sleep. The more they know about what is going on, the more they know what to look for and the healthier they can keep your mouth.

Don't be afraid to talk with your dentist. They understand the jumbled words that come out of your mouth, even when you have your mouth wide open. Talk to them about if things are going well or not, if you have any changes in your health, or if you have noticed any new problems. These are all important tidbits that your dentist wants and needs to know about.
