Ways to Properly Care For Dental Veneers

Posted on 5/15/2019 by Moyer Office
Ways to Properly Care For Dental VeneersDental veneers are an excellent way to improve and restore your smile, and with proper care, they can last a very long time! Today we will explore some of the reasons you may want to consider getting dental veneers and how to properly care for them.

Why Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are a thin custom-made shell of material that is specially designed to not only match your other teeth in color, but improve their overall appearance. The shell is bonded to the front side of your tooth and they effectively cover chips, gaps and can even change the size and length of your teeth!

When you come into our office for veneers, the first thing we will determine is if you want several teeth to be treated, or just one or two. We carefully match the veneer material to your other teeth so that your smile is seamless.

Once you are home with your beautiful smile, it is important that you take good care of it! Avoid chewing on anything that isn't food. This includes pens, fingernails, toothpicks or anything that you do not normally eat. These things can cause chipping of the veneers and damage them over time.

Maintain your newly revamped smile with polishing! Our office can help you schedule regular polishing visits that can help keep them shining brightly. Regular brushing and flossing is also still recommended.

Avoid things that stain your teeth, because they will stain your veneers too! Coffee, red wine, soft drinks, tea, cigarettes and other tobacco products can leave behind stains. If you do partake of any of these, be sure to brush and floss immediately after to help minimize the staining effects.

If you have any questions about what you should or should not do now that you have veneers, please don't hesitate to give our office a call. We look forward to seeing you!
