What Black Tea Can Do to Improve Your Oral Health

Posted on 5/30/2019 by Moyer Office
What Black Tea Can Do to Improve Your Oral HealthThere are benefits of green tea, but many people do not know the benefits that come with drinking black tea. Drinking enough tea can keep bad breath, gingivitis and a number of other oral problems at bay. With the right teas, you can make sure that you are getting health and oral benefits.

However, some teas can actually stain the teeth, so it is important to think about minimizing the exposure of the tea to the teeth.

Benefits of Black Tea for Your Oral Health

Just like with green tea, black tea has healthy polyphenols in it that provide the antioxidants and other properties that would give the oral health in anyone a boost. Having a cup or two can benefit the person that is drinking the tea. However, since black tea is known to have caffeine in it, it can cause some health problems if more than 4 or 5 cups are consumed in a day. Moderation of black tea is key.

It is also important to note that drinking tea should not replace the normal tooth hygiene that you should be doing every day such as brushing and flossing and visiting our dental office for your cleanings twice a year. Tea is great for the teeth, but the tea is not going to clean the mouth in the same way that a toothbrush would be able to or our hygienist in our dental office when you come for regular cleanings.
