What Goes on During a Dental Check-Up?
There are two parts to a dental clinic visit. The first will involve our professionals examining your teeth. We will take a deep look at your dental structures for this stage, looking for cavities, cracks, and many other underlying issues. X-rays might help to check for cracks and cavities that are not visible to the naked eye. The dental examination will also involve checking for plaque or tartar. This process of removing plaque is called scaling.
The next part of your visit will involve cleaning your teeth, also known as dental prophylaxis. Our professionals will use special tools to remove any plaque or tartar that has built up over time. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to get rid of tartar by brushing your teeth, which is why you need a specialist to remove it.
After cleaning your teeth, we will have a look at your gums. We use a unique tool to measure the depth of your gums and the spaces between teeth. Shallow gums are an indication of health, and deep gums indicate gum disease. The check-up will also include examining your tongue, throat, and facial structures such as the jaw and facial muscles.
