Taking care of your teeth at homeWe sometimes forget that dental hygiene is vital, we should do all things possible ti ensure that our teeth are healthy. Our dentist will guide you on foods to eat, those to avoid to have healthy teeth. They will also educate you on ways you can take care of your teeth at home.

Brushing and flossing

.
Our teeth need proper oral hygiene to keep since it keeps us healthy. Brushing and flossing help in prevention of teeth decay. Food particles deposit in between the teeth and they form plaque and tartar. Plaque accumulation can cause the teeth to decay and tartar accumulation can cause staining of teeth. Brush and floss regularly to keep away tartar and plaque.

Drinking plenty of water

Drinking water is vital in oral health, food deposits that are left in the mouth are washed away by drinking water. This will prevent formation of plaque and tartar in the mouth, if this is avoided then you will not have dental cavities or gum disease.

Avoiding sugars

Avoid taking sugars and foods that are sugary so that you will not have to go through tooth loss or tooth decay. The dentist will assist you in knowing the sugars that can affect your teeth since some foods like bananas have sugars yet they are nutritious. Turn to foods which are sugar free so that you are healthy such foods include natural yoghurt and chewing of sugar free gums.

Avoid acidic foods

Some fruits have acid and this is likely to bring about dental erosion. Most of these fruits have citric acid which has low PH levels. The fruits with acids are lemons, oranges and pineapples. All we need to do is consume these fruits together with other meals. Our dentist will offer more guidance on how you take care of teeth at home.
