Are The Chewable Toothpaste Tabs Reliable For Oral Health?

Posted on 5/9/2022 by Moyer Office
Are The Chewable Toothpaste Tabs Reliable For Oral Health? You have seen the novel trending oral care product in the market – chewable toothpaste tabs. Everyone is talking about them. These tiny tablets claim to have the ability to clean your teeth the same way regular toothpaste that is available in a tube does. However, is that true?

What Are Chewable Toothpaste Tabs?

Before we talk about the reliability of chewable toothpaste tablets, let's talk about what they are. Chewable toothpaste tabs are little circular discs, resembling breath mints. They contain all-natural ingredients meant to keep the teeth clean by eradicating bacterial plaque. Besides, they contain essential oils for refreshing your breath. When you want to use them, you just pop them into the mouth. While in the mouth, you use the stronger teeth like the back molars to crunch them. As the ingredients in the tablet mix with saliva, they create all-natural toothpaste that cleans your teeth.

Are they Reliable?

Although they may appear a good alternative to regular toothpaste, chewable toothpaste tablets, may not be as reliable as you think. The toothpaste created may not be able to spread or distribute evenly to all the teeth. As a result, some teeth will not get cleaned as others. Without proper cleaning of some teeth, plaque, bacteria, and tartar will continue building up on the teeth. You may be more vulnerable to decay, gum disease, and cavities if you solely rely on chewable toothpaste tablets.

Another downside is that chewable toothpaste tabs do not contain fluoride. A majority of these toothpaste tabs do not feature fluoride in their ingredient list. Dentists recommend that people use fluoride toothpaste since it helps prevent decay and caries and helps strengthen the enamel. You may not want to solely use chewable toothpaste tabs if a dentist has asked you to use fluoride toothpaste. You can use them only if you do not have access to the regular fluoridated toothpaste.
